Getting through the long stretches of anguish...

"just want to say to everyone like me who chose slightly more complicated paths, the roads less traveled, the ones with lots of roadblocks and long stretches of anguish, I just want to say that the most important thing is to always be moving toward your desire. Just do the things that make you smile and you’ll always end up somewhere. Even if that place is not anywhere you’d imagined you’d be at the start."-Garance Dore

The Cookie Experiment, or How Good Things Can Come From Laziness

I found this tasty-looking recipe for red velvet sandwich cookies w/cream cheese filling on one of my favorite design blogs, Mint a week or so ago. Given all my free time and my insatiable sweet tooth, I decided to give it a shot. While the ingredients only cost me $6 at Aldi's, of course there was no red velvet cake mix, so I figured devil's food would work, and maybe even throw some cocoa powder (borrowed from my roommate) into the filling. Not as pretty or festive, but oh so delicious.

Stripy Shirt HEAVEN!

I love stripy shirts sometimes more than my siblings (they're around a lot more), and I saw this link on one of my favorite blogs, A Cup Of Jo, today. Joanna has such great taste...there's also this online shop for die-heard stripe lovers for the real deal! An original Breton fishing striped shirt is definitely on my wish list. There's something about them that feels very French and effortlessly sophisticated.

Awesome.

I've been listening to this on repeat.

Behind every great puppet is a great tiny outfit.

Puppet #2 is getting started...it's unclear what it will turn out as, but some potential ideas are:
  • emo puppet
  • Erika puppet
  • swarthy Frenchman puppet
  • monster puppet wearing a stripy shirt
One of my favorite parts is definitely the tiny clothing. I loved so many things about Fantastic Mr. Fox (the scene in the farmers' trailer with hundreds of tiny post-its on the wall was great!), but the puppets' outfits were phenomenal.

Apparently Mr. Fox's suit/oufit was modeled off of a suit owned by Wes Anderson. These awesome guys did the puppets for the movie I believe.
